Tidalholm, The Edgar Fripp Home, Beaufort, SC

History has is that after Edgar Fripp came home from fighting in the Civil War his beloved home was to be sold on the Courthouse steps, due to $250 dollars owed in bak taxes. As tears streamed down his face, a compassionate Frenchman bought the house and turned the deed over to Fripp. The family still has the transaction in their family bible. The Frenchman was a steamer headed back to Europe long before Edgar could repay him.
